Gabion Retaining Wall

Gabion Retaining Wall is a gravity retaining wall structure made of wire mesh gabion baskets filled with rocks or other materials. It is a type of geosynthetic solution used in civil engineering and construction to stabilize and retain soil on slopes and embankments.

Gabion retaining structures are rectangular wire mesh baskets filled with rock at the project site to form flexible, permeable, monolithic structures such as gabion retaining walls for commercial, industrial and road projects. They are also used for erosion control for bank stabilization, channel linings, and gabion weirs.

Gabions Retaining Wall Materials
Gabion baskets for retaining wall are typically made of galvanized steel or PVC-coated materials.
Wire materials: Galvanized wire, pvc coated wire, Galfan wire

Functions of Gabions Retaining Wall
Gabion Retaining Walls work on the principle of mass gravity, relying on the weight of the filled baskets to resist soil pressure and retain the slope. The interlocking stones within the gabion structure provide a stable and flexible mass that can conform to minor ground movements.

Gabion strength lies in their double twisted hexagonal mesh of steel wire which is reinforced by selvedges of heavier wire running along the edges and by transverse diaphragms.

The main advantages of Gabion Retaining Walls include their permeability, durability, and ease of construction. The gaps in the wire mesh allow for proper drainage, preventing water pressure buildup behind the wall and reducing the risk of hydrostatic forces. Additionally, the galvanized or coated materials used in the gabion baskets offer resistance to corrosion, ensuring the wall's long-term performance.

Construction of Retaining Wall with Gabions
Assembly is easy, requiring no specialized labor and nearby rock is used for fill. The construction process typically involves preparing the foundation, assembling the gabion baskets in the desired configuration, and filling them with the selected material. The gabion units are stacked layer by layer, and specialized connectors or lacing wire can be used to secure adjacent baskets together for added stability.

The wire will not unravel even when cut.

Features:
1.Economic. Just fill the stone into the gabions and seal it.
2.Simple installation. No special technology needed.
3.Weather proof under natural destroy, corrosion resistant.
4.No collapse even under big scope of deforming.
5.Sludge in the stones is good for plant growing. Mixed to form a integrity with the natural environment.
6.Good permeation can prevent the damage by hydrostatic.
7.Less transport freight. It can be folded together for transport and further installation.

Gabion baskets / cages applications:
Gabion Retaining Walls are suitable for a wide range of applications, including erosion control on riverbanks and shorelines, stabilizing roadside embankments, supporting terraced slopes, and providing protective structures in flood control projects.
1.Control and guide of water or flood
2.Flood bank or guiding bank
3.Preventing of rock breaking
4.Bridge Protection
5.Water and soil protection
6.Coast protection
7.Seaport engineering
8.Strengthening structure of soil
9.Protection of road
